Wood sealant used: Rubio Monocoat wood oil: 100% non-toxic, 100% solvent-free, 100% HAPs free (hazardous air pollutants).

Water-based glues: we use water-based, 100% non-toxic glues.

Water-based paint: 100% non-toxic, 100% solvent-free, lead-free 100% HAPs free (hazardous air pollutants).
Please note that you might see the natural grain of the wood through the paint. The nature of solvent free-paint doesn’t allow for a high gloss finish.

All of our pieces are made to order.

We do not have pieces kept in stock, or in storage.

Domestically made, handmade.

Designed and produced in South Africa: Bunny & Clyde follows a philosophy of local manufacturing.

Local carpenters with decades of experience hand craft each piece.

We are committed to helping to sustain and revitalize the businesses, communities and woodworking traditions most local to us.

All of our products are very high quality both in construction and in the materials and finishes used to make them.  They are designed to be heirloom pieces that will pass down onto future generations. Each piece is versatile and multifunctional and has a timeless aesthetic.

Our collection aims to grow with the child, adapting to their changing needs, functioning beyond the limits of the nursery.

All of our materials are eco-friendly, recyclable, renewable and/or biodegradable.

All of our hardwood are FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council) as being sustainable and responsibly harvested.

When it’s structurally beneficial we use European birch ply which is also 100% non-toxic and ecologically sustainable.

All glues, oils, sealants and paints used are non-toxic, solvent-free, lead-free and HAPs-free.

Hand crafted: Hand crafted pieces should be seen as works of art. Individual craftsmen labour to express the excellence of their skills. The slight variations and imperfections of crafting by hand make each piece unique and lends itself to a nostalgic character.

Wood is an extraordinary and beautiful natural material. As it is a natural element, there are things that you should know and expect from your real hardwood furniture.

NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS: Naturally occurring wood characteristics such as knots, variations in grain and colour are a part of every piece and these characteristics are what makes each piece unique.

NATURAL MOVEMENT: wood will expand and contract with seasonal moisture level changes. This may give the appearance of surface checks and fine cracks – often around the knots of the wood. This should not be seen as a defect. Quality craftsmanship will make allowances for this movement, and it in no way affects the structural strength and integrity of the furniture.

NATURAL COLOUR CHANGES: With exposure to both natural and artificial light, natural wood will undergo colour changes.

It is our opinion that these characteristics, variations and slight imperfections serve only to enhance the beauty of the pieces. Natural products with these characteristics are not defective and cannot be exchanged for the same item.
